BIG BROTHER NAIJA: ELLA and KIMOPRAH have been evicted from BBNaija house

The Big Brother Naija 'Pepper Dem Gang' house is getting hotter with the eviction of housemates.
Ella and Kimoprah have just been evicted from the Big Brother Naija ‘Pepper Dem Gang’ show. Five housemates were earlier nominated for possible eviction on Monday, July 8. They are Tacha, Kimoprah, Sir Dee, Ella and Frodd.
But since Frodd had the power to save himself and replace with another housemate of his choice because of the veto power card he won earlier in the game, he replaced himself with Mercy.

Seyi nominated Ella and Tuoyo, Mercy, Ella and Frodd, while Thelma put up Frodd and Tacha up for possible eviction.

NEW SONG: Chris Brown Feat. Davido's New Song Blow My Mind

Cape Town — U.S. singer Chris Brown has announced on his Instagram page that he will dropping a new song, Blow My Mind, featuring Nigerian musician Davido.
The single will be a first collaboration between the two artists.
Davido is considered one of Africa's biggest music stars and it doesn't come as a shock that international singers want to collaborate with him.
The award-winning singer has carved out a great spot for himself on U.S. radio and in clubs around the world. His hit song Fall has been taking over U.S. radio stations. The song has over 135 million views and it became the first Nigerian music video to hit 100 million views on YouTube. Rolling Stone described the smash hit as one of the biggest to ever come out of Africa. In the past he has collaborated with U.S. musicians Quavo and Meek Mill.
This isn't the first time that controversial singer Chris Brown has collaborated with a Nigerian. Brown had previously worked with Afrobeats star Wizkid in 2016, when he highlighted Wizkid as a special guest in his European tour. Wizkid and Chris Brown also collaborated on African Bad Gyal, which of course was a hit.

ELECTION TRIBUNAL: Another INEC staff insists he transmitted results to central server

Another ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission has told the presidential election petition tribunal that he transmitted results to a central server as instructed by the commission for the 2019 elections.
The witness, Olufemi Ogunride, who described himself as an INEC ad-hoc staff who was trained for three days ahead of the elections, said he received election result sheets from the presiding officer which he transferred into the smart card readers and consequently transmitted into the server.
Mr Ogunride was speaking at Friday’s session of the presidential election tribunal’s hearing of the petition by the PDP challenging President Muhammad’u Buhari’s re-election.
“All I know is that the P. O (presiding officer) brought the forms EC8C. I put the information from the form into the smart card reader which I transmitted to the server.”
Mr Ogunride, however, said during further cross-examination that he had never seen the said server.
He explained that he just transmitted information from the smart card readers into the server based on what he had been taught.
The PDP had requested to inspect the INEC servers after alleging that details of election results were manipulated by the Commission to favour Mr Buhari.
The elections tribunal denied Mr Abubakar’s request to inspect INEC’s server last month, saying granting such an order would presuppose that the court had ruled that the server actually existed.
The court deferred pronouncement on the server until a proper argument has been made by both teams in the substantive petition, which hearing began last week.
INEC had said it did not use a central server for the conduct of the election, saying doing so would have contradicted the Electoral Act. INEC maintained the position despite the claim to the contrary by some of its presiding officers in the election.
Some of the presiding officers and their subordinates have since sworn an affidavit to testify against the commission in favour of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s candidate and main challenger to President Buhari.
PREMIUM TIMES also found last month that INEC budgeted nearly N1.5 billion for a server installations ahead of the presidential election.
But the commission told the elections tribunal that it had no server and Mr Abubakar and his team were only being mischievous.
A former chairman of INEC, Attahiru Jega, also told PREMIUM TIMES that there was no server during his days at INEC, and expressed doubts about any recent installation of such facilities under Yakubu Mahmood.
Besides Mr Ogunride, seven other witnesses testified on Friday at the tribunal.
In a similar testimony by a PDP witness on Friday, the witness said the petitioners agents were driven away from all polling units across his local government during the February 23, elections in Borno State.
The witness, Umaru Ahmed, was the seventh witness to testify on Friday.
According to the witness, security officers chased away PDP agents in polling units across his local government area in Borno State.
Mr Umar accused security operatives of aiding the APC to manipulate results in various parts of his local government.
Also in a similar statement, another witness, Hassan Maisarauta who said he worked for the PDP in Potiskum, Yobe State, alleged that an APC local government Chairman threatened voters at his local government to either vote APC or have their farmlands taken away from them.

The tribunal adjourned the hearing till Monday following a request by the PDP that its remaining agents could not make it to the tribunal.

I’ll fire anyone who underperforms, Gov. El-Rufai warns 13 newly sworn-in commissioners

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, on Friday threatened to sack any of the 13 newly appointed commissioners if they perform below expectations in their various ministries.
He advised them to settle down and deliver quick results.
El-Rufai, who gave the warning while swearing-in 13 out of the 15 commissioner nominees forwarded to the State Assembly for confirmation, said each of the commissioners would be made to sign a performance agreement with the top management of their ministries.
One of the governor’s nominees, Jafaaru Abubakar, was rejected during screening conducted by State Assembly for criticising All Progressives Congress’ administration in the state on his Facebook handle in 2017.
El-Rufai also mandated his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, to take charge of the State Ministry of Health pending when a substantive commissioner will be appointed for the ministry.
This was just as he vowed to fire any commissioner who cannot discharge his official responsibilities on a quarterly basis, urging them to assume duty with immediate effect.
While saying that the commissioners would sign a “Key Performance Indicators and Performance Agreement” with top management of their ministries, the governor said: “The new commissioners must quickly settle in and deliver results.
“Each of you will receive and adhere to job descriptions that will be followed by Key Performance Indicators and Performance Agreements.
“Every commissioner must, in turn, sign KPIs and Performance Agreements with the top management of their ministries.
“All are subject to strict quarterly reviews, because we must maximise the short time left to deliver service for our people.”
The governor also warned family members and associates of the new commissioners against asserting undue pressure on them.
“Family members and associates must realise that the commissioners would need their support.
“We thank you for the sacrifice you would make, but we urge you not to pressurize them,” he added.
The commissioners sworn-in are: Ja’afaru Ibrahim Sani (Ministry of Local Government Affairs); Idris Samaila Nyam (Business, Innovation & Technology); Shehu Usman Makarfi (Education); Ibrahim Garba Hussaini (Environment & Natural Resources); Kabir Mato (Sports Development); Balaraba Aliyu-Inuwa (Public Works & Infrastructure); and Samuel Aruwan (Internal Security & Home Affairs).
Others are, Fausat Adebola Ibikunle (Housing & Urban Development); Mohammed Bashir Saidu (Finance); Hafsat Mohammed-Baba (Human Services & Social Development); Aisha Dikko (Justice); Thomas Gyang (Planning and Budget); as well as Hassan Mahmud (Commissioner in the governor’s office for Riots, Damage, Rehabilitation and Resettlement).
The governor commended members of the State House of Assembly for “the speedy confirmation of the commissioner-nominees.”

R. Kelly Arrested on New Sex Crimes Charges

(CHICAGO) — R. Kelly was arrested on federal charges that accuse him and members of his entourage of recruiting women and girls to engage in illegal sexual activity with the singer and paying them to cover up his crimes, including those at the center of his 2008 acquittal on child pornography charges.
Kelly, who was already facing sexual abuse charges brought by Illinois prosecutors, was indicted on allegations that he and his business manager paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and used physical abuse and blackmail to prevent girls and their relatives from providing evidence to law enforcement about his sex acts with minors and videos depicting them.
An indictment unsealed Friday in Chicago says he arranged for a girl and her parents to travel overseas so they could not talk with police prior to his 2002 indictment on 21 counts of child pornography. The pornography case stemmed from allegations that Kelly recorded a video of him engaging in sex acts with the girl, who was 12 or 13 when they met in the mid-1990s. Kelly and the girl denied they were in the video, even though the picture quality was good and witnesses testified it was them. She did not take the stand.
The indictment says the payments continued after the 2008 trial, and that Kelly also transferred the title on a luxury SUV to the girl in 2013.
Prosecutors also say Kelly went to great lengths to recover videos he made of himself with minor girls when he realized some were missing from his “collection,” including making some victims and witnesses take lie-detector tests to ensure they had returned all copies of the videos.
Prosecutors also say Kelly went to great lengths to recover videos he made of himself with minor girls when he realized some were missing from his “collection,” including making some victims and witnesses take lie-detector tests to ensure they had returned all copies of the videos.
A separate indictment filed in the Eastern District of New York includes charges of racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor and the sexual exploitation of a child. It says Kelly and his managers, bodyguards and other assistants picked out women and girls at concerts and other venues and arranged for them to travel to see Kelly. They also set rules the women and girls had to follow, including not leaving their rooms — even to eat or go to the bathroom — without Kelly’s permission, calling the singer “Daddy” and not looking at other men, the indictment alleges.
The indictment alleges that the criminal acts occurred over two decades dating back to 1999, both in the U.S. and overseas. It accuses Kelly of engaging in sexual acts with girls under 18 and of not disclosing that he had a sexually transmitted disease. It also accuses him of producing child pornography, including by asking minors to send him photographs.
The Chicago indictment charges Kelly with child sex crimes, including producing child pornography, and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government. It also names Kelly’s business manager, Derrel McDavid, and another employee.
Kelly appeared in federal court Friday in Chicago for a brief hearing on the New York indictment. He stood before the judge in an orange jumpsuit, with his hands clasped behind his back. The only words he spoke during the 15-minute hearing were “yes, ma’am” to the judge.
Kelly has been held at the high-rise Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago, where he will remain at least until a hearing scheduled for Tuesday. Prosecutors have requested he be held without bond.
Federal prosecutors in New York said if convicted of the charges Kelly could face decades in prison. Chicago prosecutors also want Kelly to forfeit more than $1.5 million.
Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, said the 52-year-old R&B artist was walking his dog when he was taken into custody Thursday evening.
Greenberg said the new federal allegations appear “to largely be the same” as what he is charged with in state court earlier this year. He said Kelly “was aware of the investigations, and the charges were not a surprise.”
“He and his lawyers look forward to his day in court, to the truth coming out and to his vindication from what has been an unprecedented assault by others for their own personal gain,” Greenberg said. Kelly also looks forward to making music and performing “for his legions of fans that believe in him.”
The arrest was the second time this year that Kelly has been taken into custody in Chicago on sex charges. The Grammy winner, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was arrested in February on 10 counts in Illinois of sexually abusing three girls and a woman. He pleaded not guilty to those charges and was released on bail.
Then on May 30, Cook County prosecutors added 11 more sex-related counts involving one of the women who accused him of sexually abusing her when she was underage.
Darrell Johnson, a publicist for Kelly, delivered a statement at a chaotic news conference Friday in Atlanta, where he was interrupted seconds after beginning by the family of a woman who lived with Kelly in Chicago. The relatives of Joycelyn Savage pleaded to speak with their daughter.
“I want to know where my daughter is,” Timothy Savage, Joycelyn Savage’s father, angrily interrupted Johnson. “Where is she at? Answer that question!”
Johnson said he had “nothing to do” with Joycelyn Savage and that she was not being held. In an interview with “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King in March, Joycelyn Savage defended her relationship with Kelly and denied reports she was being held against her will.
Kelly has faced mounting legal troubles this year after Lifetime aired a documentary “Surviving R. Kelly,” which revisited allegations of sexual abuse of girls. The series followed the BBC’s “R Kelly: Sex, Girls & Videotapes,” released in 2018, that alleged the singer was holding women against their will and running a “sex cult.”
Soon after the release of the Lifetime documentary, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said her office had been inundated with calls about the allegations in the documentary. Her office’s investigation led to the charges in February and additional counts added in May.
